January 2010 -
Luke Thomas and Tim McKay are heading to Nashville
Lead guitar player, Luke Thomas from Dolly, The Show and
British Country Music award winners of Best Event, Solid
Gold Country Legends will be joining BCMA winner Tim
McKay as they open for the theatre shows in preparation
for a tour of Nashville in June.
The Solid Gold Country Legends show was voted Event of
the Year and Tim McKay held on to the coveted
Entertainer of the Year at the recent British Country
Music Awards (September 2009).
Tim was chosen by theatre production company, Country
Legends to perform at many of their shows as they tour
major theatres across the country. The first show will
be at the Waterfront Hall in Belfast on 7th February
where he will open the show with the Country Legends
band before Dolly, The Show begins.
Tim has already teamed up with Luke to rehearse prior to
meeting the full band and anticipation is growing for
when they perform together on the stage in Nashville in
June 2010.
Jeanne Jordan and BJ Thomas will be choreographing the
new show and together Luke and Tim will be performing
songs that have been chosen from Garth Brooks
Publishing company in Nashville.
The Country Music Association of America (CMA) Artist
Selection Committee has chosen Tim and Luke to perform
on the Global Stage during CMA Music Festival in June
2010.
The CMA Music Festival is the Country Music
Association's biggest party. It is steeped in more than
three decades of Fan Fair tradition. Since Fan Fair was
born in 1972, country music fans have poured into
Nashville, Tennessee, travelling from around the globe
to see their favourite artists perform, to get that
coveted autograph and to create lifelong memories.
Each year, hundreds of artists and celebrities appear at
the CMA Music Festival, from rising stars, to current
favourites and the legends. It is a veritable stomping
ground for both those who love making music and those
who love hearing it.
BJ Thomas says ‘Both Tim and Luke are excited by the new
theatre project and will be pulling out all the stops to
make it a success’.
At only 21 years old, Luke, the hugely talented son of
Country stars, Jeanne Jordan and BJ Thomas, has been
playing the guitar since he was just 11 years old. He is
now lead guitar on both, Solid Gold Country Legends and
Dolly, The Show.
Last year Luke signed an endorsement deal with leading
guitar suppliers, John Hornby Skewes to play their
Vintage Key Player range.
Luke comments ‘It’s very flattering to have been
approached by Vintage Key Player to endorse their
products. This deal is great for me as other people on
their endorsement list include the famous US duo, Van
Zant, as far as we know I am the only other Country
player on their artist roster’.
When Tim McKay was just 17 years of age he was already
being hailed as one of the brightest young stars on the
British Country music scene, now at just 20, he is
probably one of the busiest country music artistes in
the UK.
Tim has won the Entertainer of the Year Award at the
British CMA’s for two years running. In between he's
already had several of his dreams come true, including
visiting Nashville to talk with industry big-wigs, and
still maintains a very busy tour schedule.
There are no plans for Tim and Luke to perform in the UK
as a duo. They may be seen together around the clubs
honing their skills ready for Nashville and Country
music’s biggest party, but if you want to come along and
